Matthew Henry was a theologian, writer, and study Bible commentator born in Broad Oak, Wales in 1662.

The son of a clergyman, he received a very good education and at the age of 18 he studied in London. He wrote numerous catechism works and sermons, but went down to posterity thanks to his commentaries on the Bible: An Exposition of the Old and the New Testament.

This great work of study of the free Bible was carried out in his last years of life and has been recognized as the best of the Bible commentaries in English. Before he died, he reached the book of Acts and after his death his work was completed by Puritan scholars from his writings and notes based on the Reina Valera.
